P. John Brunner, Partner

John Brunner is the founding partner of Brunner and Lundy and has extensive experience and expertise in almost all areas of civil litigation with special concentration in professional negligence, construction, insurance, administrative law and defamation.

Between 1964 and 1972, he was an associate and partner with Kimber, Dubin, Brunner & Armstrong where his practice was restricted to criminal and civil litigation. From 1972 to 1991, he was counsel to the law firm of Minden, Gross, Grafstein & Greenstein.

He has appeared before all courts in the Province of Ontario both at trial and appellate levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as various Administrative Tribunals.

John was the former General Counsel to the Ontario Association of Architects and one of the principal draftspersons of the Architects Act and the Professional Engineers Act, as well as the corresponding provisions of the Ontario Building Code and was one of the organizers of the Ontario Association of Architects’ Indemnity Plan, now Pro-Demnity Insurance Company which is the sole mandated insurer for architects under the Architects Act.

He is a past Associate Editor of the Dominion Law Reports, Canadian Criminal Cases and Ontario Reports and a Founding Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers.

John is also actively engaged as a single arbitrator and Chairman of Boards of Arbitration in labour/management disputes throughout the Province of Ontario and a mediator on a variety of disputes including construction, landlord and tenant and real property law.

John has repeatedly been listed under Construction Law, Insurance Law and Legal Malpractice Law in Best Lawyers (2006 – 2019) in Canada.

Susan Walker

Andrew Lundy, Partner

Andrew has extensive experience and expertise in insurance and professional liability law as well as in disciplinary proceedings and has sat as counsel at the Discipline Committees for the Ontario Association of Architects and the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.

For the past 25 years, Andrew has represented dentists, architects, engineers and insurance brokers with a special concentration on defending dentists and architects in professional liability litigation. He has appeared before all courts in the Province of Ontario, both trial and appellate as well as various Administrative Tribunals.

In addition to his litigation practice, Andrew has experience in sports arbitrations and has represented the National Hockey League Players’ Association at salary arbitration hearings for the past 15 years.

Andrew has been selected by his peers to be included in the 2010-2019 editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the areas of Construction Law and Insurance Law.

Andrew has also been recognized by his peers in The Canadian Legal expert Directory as a leading practitioner in Construction Law.

Eric S. Baum, Lawyer

Eric joined Brunner and Lundy in August 2013, after practicing commercial litigation at a leading litigation boutique in Toronto.

Eric’s practice focuses primarily on insurance and professional liability defence on behalf of dentists and architects. Eric also has significant experience defending a range of other professionals, including lawyers and accountants.

Eric has appeared as counsel before the Small Claims Court, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Eni Eski, Lawyer

Eni joined Brunner and Lundy in February 2019 after having worked in house at a professional liability insurer. Prior to that, she maintained a broad commercial litigation and bankruptcy and insolvency practice at established firms in Toronto and Sydney, Australia.

Rachel Cassar

Gianluca Canaletti, Lawyer

Gianluca joined Brunner and Lundy in September 2019. He is developing a civil litigation practice focused on insurance and professional liability defence of dentists and architects.

Prior to joining Brunner and Lundy, Gianluca articled at the Ministry of the Attorney General, Crown Law Office – Civil.

Gianluca is a graduate of Queen’s University Faculty of Law, where he was heavily involved with Queen’s Legal Aid and Queen’s Prison Law Clinics. He was awarded several prizes for his contribution to these clinics.
